Simon Bacola, age 84, of Wellesley died peacefully at home September 10, 2014. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth (Purcell) Bacola. Born in New York City, NY; he was the son of the late Joseph and Esther (Cohen) Bacola.
Simon served in the US Marine Corps Reserve and the US Air Force, earning three Bronze Stars during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Boston University School of Fine Arts where he majored in filmmaking.
Simon was a US Postal worker, retiring in 1986. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed sharing his camping and survival skills as a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He was also an avid fisherman.
Simon is survived by his two sons, Joseph Bacola of Wellesley and John Bacola of Munroe Falls, OH. He was the brother of Molly Fromm of Miami, FL and the late Issac, Morris and Elizabeth Bacola and Rachel Crane.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, September 13th from 10:30-Noon at the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham,
followed by private burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
