John E. Burr

John E. Burr, age 82, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2014. He was the husband of Lorraine (Aucella) Burr, with whom he had shared 54 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Stoneham, he was the son of the late Thomas and Emily (Hynes) Burr.
John was a star on the Stoneham High School football team and a graduate in the class of 1951. He served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon returning to civilian life in Stoneham, he married his high school sweetheart, established a business as a flooring contractor and proceeded to start his family. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Unicorn Golf Course.
He was the father of John Burr, Jr. of Florida, Debbie Young of New Jersey, Joanne Burr of Florida, Leanora Burr of Quincy, Thomas Burr of Stoneham, Anthony Burr of Melrose and Eileen Cardillo of Rowley. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A private family prayer service with military honors will be held at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home in Stoneham.
