Stanton Burns Waite, age 80, of Stoneham, formerly of Arlington, died October 6, 2014, at the Emerson Hospital in Concord following a lengthy decline. He was the devoted husband of the late Lorraine (Blauvelt) Waite. Born and raised in Arlington, MA; he was the son of the late Percy H. and Hazel M. (Lawson) Waite.
Stan was a graduate of Arlington High School. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War. For 32 years, he faithfully served the Town of Stoneham as a Stoneham Firefighter, retiring in 1993.
Stan was a devout Christian and a loyal parishioner of the Church of the Open Bible.
Stan's favorite place on earth was Vermont. He and Lorraine,” the light of his life”, loved to visit the Vermont general stores, stay at the country inns and learn about the state’s history. He was an avid gardener and the proud owner of a 40 acre Christmas tree farm in Cabot, Vermont.
He was the cherished father of Pamela Waite Douglass and her husband Jon Kjellman of Reading, Bradford Allen Waite of Andover and Nancy Waite Raia of N. Andover. He was the brother of Winfred Waite of N. Carolina, Kenneth Waite of Carlisle and the late Mabel Markham. He leaves his six grandchildren, Heather, Christine, Janene, Danielle, Paul and Sam; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, Saturday at 10 A.M. followed by a funeral service at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn St., Burlington. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday, 4-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Those desiring, please make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
