Dawna P. Hastings (Orben), a long time Stoneham resident, died at her home unexpectedly of congestive heart failure. Born in Nuremberg, Germany, she was the daughter of Jacqueline (Warnock) Murphy and her husband Ed of North Reading and the late Arthur Orben.
Dawna was raised in Stoneham and graduated from Stoneham High School. For the past thirty years, she had resided in Stoneham where she had raised her family.
Dawna had worked as a cashier at Walgreen’s in Stoneham since it’s opening. She will be remembered by her many appreciative customers for her friendly greeting. After work Dawna enjoyed being home, reading murder mysteries and tending to “her boys”, an assortment of guinea pigs. She loved talking frequently with her granddaughter.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her two daughters, Cheri Moores and her husband Eric “Moe” of Georgetown and Shara Herbert and her husband Michael of Lowell and her cherished granddaughter, Samantha Moores who called her Noni. She is also survived by her husband Richard Hastings of Lowell and three sisters, Carole McTaggart of Reading, Gayle Munro of Acton, ME and Susan Orben of North Reading.
As instructed by Dawna, there will be no services. She requested that any memorial gifts be sent to the Central Animal Hospital, 109 Central St., Stoneham, MA 02180. Arrangements under the direction of Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home of Stoneham.
