Norman R. Houghton

Norman R. Houghton, Jr., age 87, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, passed away January 15, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Born in Woburn, MA; he was the son of the late Norman R. and Audrey B. (Parker) Houghton. He was the beloved husband of Antoinette (Mantia) Houghton.
Norman was a graduate of Stoneham High in the class of 1945. He enlisted in the Navy and served during WWII. He then went to Boston University and graduated with a degree in business.
Norman was devoted to his family and his church. Each week his family gathered at the Houghton Home for Sunday dinner and fellowship. Years ago, he installed a pool himself in their back yard for his family and is still being enjoyed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As an active communicant of St. Patrick Church, he served as a Eucharist minister, a Lector and a director on their finance board. He was one of the original directors of the Stoneham Boys and Girls Club and served many years on their finance committee.
He was the cherished father of Kenneth Houghton and his wife Deborah of Wakefield, Robert Houghton and his wife Kerry of Dover, FL, Judith Catino and her husband Edward of Medford, Norman Houghton, III and his wife Rita of Ft. Myers, FL and John Houghton and his wife Patricia of Salem, NH. He was also survived by twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter Houghton.
Funeral services are from Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, Stoneham, on Tuesday, January 20th, at 9AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 10AM and interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
