Obituary for Patriot Ledger, Berkshire Eagle, Hartford Courant
(Nurse Icon) Judith Ann Bernard, age 72, of Canton, died April 24, 2015, following a brief illness. Born in Quincy, MA; she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Beatrice (Johnson) MacDonald.
Judy was raised in Braintree and Great Barrington. After having graduated from Mt. Everett Regional School in Sheffield in 1960; she began nurses training at Deaconess Hospital in Boston and graduated in 1963. As a registered nurse, Judy dedicated 27 years to working at the Charmss Collaborative of the South Shore, a facility serving children with special needs.
Judy and her family resided in Vermont for five years before returning to Massachusetts, moving to Sharon and then Canton. Judy is fondly remembered by having been a huge fan of basketball; following the Celtics, college, the NBA and WNBA games. She was also a voracious reader, especially enjoying mysteries.
She was the loving mother of Keith Bernard and his wife Zayda Ortiz of Malden, Suniti Bernard and her partner Damien Faherty of Belmont and Scott Bernard, Esq. and his wife Christina Dent of Middleborough. She was the sister of Bruce MacDonald of North Adams, Sherry McGill of Connecticut and Gerry Rhines of Las Vegas, NV.
A Memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 2nd, 1-3 P.M. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift to the American Lung Association of the Northeast.
