Charles Marble Adams, III of Grantham, NH, formerly of Stoneham and Reading, passed away May 7, 2015. He was the loving husband of Terese (DeAngelis) Adams. Born in Woburn, MA and raised in Stoneham, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence (Rivers) Adams.
Charlie was a 1959 graduate of Stoneham High School where he was an outstanding hockey player and designer of the Stoneham Spartan Logo. After graduating from Wentworth Institute in Boston, he worked as a waterproofing engineer and consultant throughout his career .
Much of Charlie’s life was spent devoted to others less fortunate. He was former president of the National Arthritis Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of Bethany House in Millis. For many years, he volunteered at numerous prisons and correctional facilities in the Boston area and surrounding communities. He, along with his family, served at the Soup Kitchen at St. Athanasuis Church where he was a longtime member; he routinely brought food and clothing to the “under the bridge” homeless in Boston and was a volunteer at the Home for Little Wanderers.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, he was the devoted father of Geoffrey and Lisa of Salem, NH, Jennifer and Teddy of Port St. Joseph, FL and Melissa Willis and her husband Fred of Woburn. He was the brother of Marcia Llewellyn and her husband Howard of Cotuit, William Adams and his wife Donna of Pittsburg, NH and Michele Forviere of Bellingham. He was brother-in-law of Mary Jean and the late Steven DeAngelis, Joel and the late Frances Glovsky of FL. Charlie was the cherished grandfather of eleven grandchildren, Chelsey, Eric, Geoffrey, Madison, Mikeila, Kiana, Christopher, Zachary, MacKenzie, Alex and Lauren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends including Ken and Barbara Neelon of Bellingham. Funeral from the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, Saturday, May 16th at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M.at St. Athanasuis Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the funeral home, Friday, 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory may be sent to Charlie’s Place, Bethany House Ministry, 1049 Main Millis, MA 02054.
