Bernice J. Weisse

Bernice J. Weisse, age 86, a long time resident of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2015. She was the devoted wife of 49 years to William F. Weisse.
Born in Somerville, MA; she was the daughter of the late John E. and Harriett F. (Sweeney) Roche. Bernice was raised in the Allston and Brighton sections of Boston and graduated from Brighton High School in 1946.
Prior to becoming a wife and mother, Bernice sang professionally. Along with raising her family, she worked as a secretary in the emergency room at the New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham and she was one of the original traffic directors, a school crossing guard, for the Town of Stoneham. Later in retirement, Bernice became a hotshot golfer and earned bragging rights for making two holes in one on a Florida golf course.
She was a founding member and past president of the "Mother of Twins” in Arlington.
Bernice was the cherished mother of nine children, Kenneth and his wife Mary of Londonderry, NH, Paul and his wife Mary of Tewksbury, Susan Finnegan and her husband Albert of Londonderry, NH, William and his wife Suzanne of Wakefield, Timothy of Stoneham, Bonnie Sharp and her husband Richard of Newbury, Bradley of Salem, Darren and his wife Sherry of Tewksbury and Duane and his wife Kathleen of Burlington. She was the proud grandmother of 15, Kara, Jessica, Lauren, Gregory, Timothy, Brian, Samantha, Kenneth, Jake, Casie, Shannon, Michael, Christian, Skylar, and the late Katherine. She was the sister of Maureen Mello of Peabody and the late John Roche, Marion Mitchell and Eileen McCarthy.
Funeral services are from the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, Monday, June 1st at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham. Visitation at the funeral home, Sunday, 3-7 P.M. Memorial gifts to Maristhill Nursing Center, 66 Newton St., Waltham, MA 02453, would be greatly appreciated.
