Richard Dean Karlson, age 86, of Malden, formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully at the Country Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newburyport, on July 23, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, MA on August 9, 1928, and raised in Stoneham; he was the son of the late Emil Charles and Margaret Frances (Hardy) Karlson.
Richard was retired from the General Electric Company after forty years as a machinist. In addition to ballroom dancing and cruises to Bermuda, he enjoyed much of what Boston has to offer, especially the annual Boston Flower & Garden Show, the Boston Public Gardens during the tulip season and the Gardner Museum.
He was the father of Suzanne Karlson, Dean Richard Karlson, Matthew Michael Karlson & his wife Tamera, Janet Louise Karlson and Aaron Karlson & his wife Susan. He also leaves several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late June Helene Karlson, Theodore James Karlson and Conrad Charles Karlson.
Funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Red Cross and My Brother’s Table.
