Dorothea Nelson Frederico

May 10, 1922 — July 31, 2015

Dorothea (Nelson) Frederico of Woburn, formerly of Stoneham, died July 31, 2015, at the Woburn Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the former wife of the late Philip Frederico. Born in Dover, NH and raised in Concord, NH; she was the daughter of the late Harold S. and Irene (Sanders) Nelson.
Dottie graduated from Concord High School and worked for the American Dairy Council in NH. She later worked for Atlantic Geltin in Stoneham and was employed as an executive sectary for many years with GTE International in Waltham.
Dottie lived for many years with her mother in Brattleboro, Vermont t before moving to Massachusetts. While in Vermont, Dottie was active in amateur theatricals. In Woburn, she was an active member for the First Baptist Church; she participated in social programs including “The Dwelling Place” and was a charter member of the Mishawum Choral Society. While living in Stoneham, she enjoyed being part of the Senior Citizens Bridge Club. She was a longtime member of the Public Citizen and the New England Anti-vivisection Society.
Dottie will be remembered as having a great sense of humor and discussing politics with those who would agree with her. She loved animals, opera and the theater and writing poetry. She loved people and made friends wherever she went.
She was the aunt of James W. Nelson & his wife Pam, Charles H. Nelson & his wife Elaine and the late Lucille N. Smith & her husband Charles. She was the beloved grandaunt of Diana S. Taranto & her husband Frederick, Paula M. Kates Veeder & her husband Stuart, Jennifer Nelson Strong & her husband Scott Coffin and Michael J. Nelson & his wife Tenley. She also leaves many great, grandnephews and nieces and a dear longtime friend, Diane Seavey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5 at 10 A.M. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham followed by interment at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Visitation at the funeral home, Tuesday, 4-7 P.M. Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church, 3 Winn St., Woburn, MA 01801 or the New England Antivivisection Society, 333 Washington St., Boston, MA 02108.
