Lorraine Zackular Prestera

February 11, 1929 — September 30, 2015

Lorraine Zackular Prestera, age 86, passed away September 30, 2015. She was the wife of the late Paul J. Zackular and the late Frank J. Prestera. Born in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Sadie (Grundy) Rhoda.
Lorraine worked for many years as a payroll clerk for the Town of Stoneham. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church where she served as a Deaconess and a choir member for many years and the “Sunshine Lady” for AMICA. She served as president of AARP in Melrose. Lorraine belonged to a square dance club with her husband Frank She also enjoyed bowling, knitting, painting with numbers, playing BINGO and she was an avid reader. Her life would brighten every time she got to spend with her family; they were the world to her.
She was the mother of Dianne Zackular Groom and her husband William and Paul J. Zackular Jr. and his wife Janice; the grandmother of Richard Sullivan and his wife Jennifer, Paul Sullivan and Karen Sullivan, Lindsay Long and her husband Gary, Christine Nazzaro and her husband Paul and Dr. Joseph Zackular and the great grandmother of Steven Chadwick, Shaun Johnson, Kaitlyn, Michael and Christopher Sullivan, Janina Long and Gianna Nazzaro. She also leaves her brother William Rhoda and his wife Florence and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Stoneham on Tuesday at 10 A.M. followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours are at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home on Monday 4-8 P.M. Those desiring may make a memorial gift to the First Congregational Church, One Church St., Stoneham.
