Sally T. (Karwoska) Kelley, a long time resident of Lynnfield, died October 23, 2015, at the Pilgrim Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Born in 1915 in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Valerie Karwoski. She was the wife of the late Everett J. Kelley with whom she had shared 50 years of marriage.
Sally trained as a hairdresser, but her real passion was sewing, a skill she honed by making clothes for her family and then followed this passion by teaching sewing classes at her home for many years. She lived most of her life in Lynnfield where she was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and a volunteer at the Lynnfield Public Library. Her hobbies included crafts, cooking, reading and playing golf. She loved traveling and raved about her trips to Ireland and Alaska. At every occasion possible, Sally loved to dance, especially the polka, and she enjoyed doing that recently at her 100th birthday party in March 2015. She will be lovingly remembered for her optimism and tenacity.
She was the mother of Barbara Nevils & her late husband Timothy, Patricia Kumph & her late husband Paull, Betty Sprague & her husband Edwin, Sally Whitney & her husband Douglas, Mary Nugent & her husband Walter and Denis Kelley & his wife Suzanne. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass celebrating the life of Sally will be held Thursday, October 29th at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 758 Salem St., Lynnfield followed by burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02115.
