Patricia Ann Rosa

Patricia Ann (Reagan)Rosa passed to the next life on April 9, 2016 at the Winchester Nursing and Rehabilitation center. She has been a resident of the nursing home for the past few years, yet retained her unbreakable strength, love of life and limitless devotion to her son, grandson and great grandchildren all her days. She often said to her grandson: “I have loved you, your father and your kids since the days on which you were born. I will continue to love you until the day I die, but even then I will look down on you from heaven and love and protect you forever.” She was born on March 17, 1923 at home in East Boston to the late James Joseph Reagan and Margaret (Duffy) Reagan. She was the last child to be born of this couple-her father was 65 and her mother 48 when she was born. Her siblings were Margaret Reagan who passed the year before she was born, Jimmy Reagan who she lost in 1940, Ellen Reagan who lived with Patricia for much of her life until her passing in 1979, and Danny Reagan. She was the proud mother of James Richard Rosa currently of Melrose, grandmother (and second mother) to David Jonathan Rosa of Boston and great grandmother to Alessia Sofia Rosa, Davide James Rosa and Marcello Lee Rosa. She was twice married-first to Richard Medeiros and then to Mario Rosa who gave the family the surname Rosa. Having lost her father at age 13, mother at 14 and brother Jimmy at 15, Patricia left school in order to help the remaining struggling siblings. When her first husband left the family when son James (known by family as Richie) was only 3 in 1950, she raised her son in Chelsea with the help of only her sister Ellen. When grandson David was born in 1971, she regularly took care of him on weekends with the devotion of a second mother. Patricia protectively followed her grandson David everywhere, and transcended the bounds of 2 generations to become not only a grandmother, but also the closest of friends. No more devoted mother or grandmother has ever lived. Patricia worked at Gillette inspecting razors for servicemen during WWII. She later became a nurses aid at the Mass General Hospital. She ended her career as a home health aide before devoting the rest of her life to her family. In later years, she moved from Chelsea to Longwood Place in Reading before only limitations of mobility forced her to move into a nursing home. Her body became weakened in the last few years, but her mind and spirit have remained forever. Visitation will be held Monday, April 18th , 7-9 P.M., and will include a prayer service and celebration of her life at 8:30 PM. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham.
