James William Gallagher, Jr., age 41, of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham, died April 20, 2016, following a six year battle with cancer. Born in Boston, MA, he was the cherished son of James W. and Barbara L. (McNaughton) Gallagher.
Jim was raised in Stoneham and a graduate of Stoneham High School in the class of 1994. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. He served four years aboard the USS Santa Fe where he worked with electrical and nuclear reactors on the submarine.
Jim had been employed for several years as a chemist for Bostik. He was known to be very intelligent, compassionate, generous and humble to his family and friends. He was an avid reader, especially books concerning the military and he enjoyed playing WOW games with competitors around the world.
In addition to his parents he leaves his wife Sara (Earley) Gallagher; daughter Liriel; sisters Wendy Gallagher and Julie Gallagher; brothers Andrew Gallagher and Matthew Gallagher & his wife Katie all of Wakefield. He is also survived by his niece Aleena, nephew Matthew, Jr. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
