Alice Houghton

Alice P. Houghton, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Billerica on Thursday, June 30, 2016. She was born on October 21, 1933 to Thomas and Eleanor(Gilson)Donnelly and was raised in Wakefield, MA. She was one of six children and is survived by her beloved sister Eleanor "Betty" Smith and her brothers James and Richard Donnelly. She married her soul mate Walter Houghton at age 19 and they raised four children together. During her life she had a wonderful career as a teacher at the Shawsheen Valley Technical School in the culinary department. As an active member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church for close to 60 years, she enjoyed volunteering her time in whatever capacity they needed her in. She had a zest for life and enjoyed many different activities including traveling, quilting, going to the ocean, spending time with her family, and one of her favorites being Friday night get-togethers with family and her friends.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy and husband Larry Marshall, daughter Cindy and husband David Fawcett, son Glen and his wife Nancy, as well as her son David and loving partner Debra MacCuish. She was blessed to have spent so much time with her grandchildren Christopher and Kaitlyn Marshall, Kimberly and James Ross, Kathryn Marshall, Amy Fawcett, Courtney and Ben Bonfanti, Elizabeth Fawcett, Daniel and Deserae Fawcett, Maura and Andrew Faughnan, Emily Houghton, Olivia Houghton, and Alexandra Houghton. She was also fortunate to have five amazing great-grandchildren including Arianna, Parker, Richard, Ronan, Walter and Cristina. She is also survived by her dear friend Jack.
A funeral service will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church,14 Treble Cove Rd, Billerica, MA on Wednesday July 6th at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home 4 Common St, Stoneham, MA on Tuesday July 5th from 4 to 7.
