Marilyn M. (Lavertu) Ames, age 82, a resident of Stoneham for over 60 years, passed away August 25, 2016. She was the cherished wife of the late Kenneth T. Ames, Jr.
Marilyn was born in Lawrence, MA, and at twelve years of age raised and educated in Medford where she was a graduate of Medford High School. For nearly thirty years Marilyn was employed as a medical secretary at the New England Memorial Hospital.
Marilyn was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Medford and later an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Stoneham. She and her husband Ken enjoyed many summers at their family cottage in Harpswell, Maine. Marilyn was devoted to her family and her many pets.
She was the loving mother of Denise Robbins and her late husband Stephen of N. Reading, Kenneth Ames and his wife Eleanora of Stoneham and Karen F. Ames of Medford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott Robbins and his wife Irvinia, Jonathan Robbins, Mary Lynn Correa and her husband Carlos and Kimberly Ames; and she leaves her sisters-in-law, Beverly F. Chin of Medford and Ruth Lehoux of Haverhill.
Visiting hours and funeral service were held Monday, August 29th , at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham. Burial was in Harpswell, Maine. Those desiring may send a memorial gift to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
