Saipe, Barbara Jean passed peacefully at home with her daughter Rebekah Osborne of Ashland, OR and partner, John Kuta of Sebastopol, CA on June 26, 2017 after a long and tenacious battle with pancreatic cancer. Barbara was born on July 25th, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was raised in Stoneham MA and attended Stoneham High School; she earned her B.A. from George Washington University and a Master’s in Education from The University of Utah. Barbara studied in Paris while completing her BA from GW University and she was a lifelong Francophile. A longtime California resident, Barbara lived in Sebastopol, CA for over 25 years and was also a devout member of Congregation Shomrei Torah. She was a volunteer for many local organizations including the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, a board member of the Analy High School Education Foundation; Hillel of Sonoma County and recently became a mentor for an at risk high school student through the nonprofit 10,000 Degrees Sonoma County.
Barbara was a dedicated residential realtor who brought integrity, knowledge and the highest level of service to her clients at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Barbara was passionate about food, wine and she enjoyed a lifelong love of cooking.
She was the loving mother of Rebekah Rose Osborne, sister of Lee Sevilla and Robin Saipe (deceased). Barbara is survived by her nieces and nephews Michael and Mark Sevilla, Leslie McGrath; Jonathan and Geoffrey Hickman, and her cousins Jody Barwood, Sally Pecora-Saipe, Nancy Humphry, and Hank Saipe.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, MA followed by burial in Temple Adath Israel Cemetery, Lakeside Ave., Wakefield MA. For details, please call the funeral home at 781-438-0135.
