Millie Plati lived more than half her life in Stoneham, where, with her husband Jim, she raised her five children. She was an active member of Saint Patrick’s “Mothers Club.” She enjoyed growing plants and flowers, and adopting and caring for abandoned and injured animals. For twenty-nine years she performed her job as a traffic crossing guard for the town of Stoneham with pride and love. She always kept a supply of candy in her pocket for the children she crossed, and an extra pair of gloves in the winter in case she saw a child who had none. Even when she needed assistance during her last years, her concern for others did not diminish. Millie would always tell her children to invite someone who was sitting alone to join in with her family. During her last years she discovered her hidden painting talent. Millie will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and siblings.
