Roy Lee Slocum, age 79, a long-time resident of Stoneham passed peacefully October 7, 2017, at the home of his daughter’s in Wakefield. He was the husband of the late Jerilyn (Pronovost) Slocum. Born in Arlington, MA he was the son of the late Basil Lee and Gladys (Fulmore) Slocum. Roy was a US Army Veteran. He was a retired sheet metal worker and a member of the Sheet Metal Worker Union Local 17 for 55 years. Roy was a long time coach and board member of the Stoneham Girls Hockey Association. He has often enjoyed visiting the numerous casinos in the Northeast. He is survived by his three daughters, Sharon L. Gendron and her husband Fred, Tiffany M. Slocum and Holly A. Sweeney and her husband David. Also survived by four grandchildren, Tyler S. and Ashlee Gendron, Colton and Chloe Sweeney. He was the brother of Dorothy Casassa and her husband Charles, Charles Slocum, the late Elaine Snow and her surviving husband Harrison Snow, Ruth Cleveland and her husband Robert and brother-in-law of the late Mary Collins and her husband Robert.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, on Saturday at 10 A.M. Visiting hours will be at the Funeral Home Friday 4-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
