Barbara Mathewson

Barbara Mathewson, age 80, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, died following a lengthy illness, on December 17, 2017. Born in Boston, MA; she was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Ella A. (Clark) Foley. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to Robert P. Mathewson.
Barbara was a familiar face in town as she worked for many years at Redstone Shopping Center, first as a waitress at Brighams' and then as a cashier at Star Market. Barbara enjoyed shopping for family, friends and herself. In quieter times, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was the devoted mother of Deborah Mathewson of Malden, Daniel Mathewson of Woburn and "special daughter" Marion. She is also survived by her sisters, Ella Kelleher & her husband William of Woburn and Carol Liccardi & her husband Bart of Wareham, many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Wednesday, 4-7 P.M. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.
