Craig, 42, of Stoneham, MA, was a big-hearted and artistic soul who was known as a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed outdoor adventures, especially rock climbing, skiing, and camping. He loved music, woodworking, photography, and oil and watercolor painting, and was well-known for his quick and accurate wit. He was also a talented cook, and was especially known for his bolognese, triple grilled cheese, and open campfire skills.
Craig grew up in Suffield, CT, where he was deeply involved in Scouts, and worked as an optical engineer for Magiq Technologies in Somerville, MA. He obtained an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Western New England University and a graduate degree in optical physics from the University of Connecticut. He served as a fellow at the National Institute of Science and Technology in Washington D.C., focusing on nanotechnology.
He is survived by his wife, Lindsay Beal, his children, Bridget Beal (13) and Fiona Beal (11); his parents, Ruth and Howard Beal of Simsbury, CT, his uncle and aunt Donald and Marcia Beal of Holland, MA, his dog Moxie (10), his snake Popcorn (3), and many loving extended family members.
