Alan K. Wood

Alan K. Wood, 88 of Charlton Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home, on April 30,2022.

Alan was born on January 19, 1934 to Mabel and Reginald Wood in Cambridge Massachusetts. Alan graduated from Arlington High School. After graduating, Alan worked in sales and then started his own general contracting business out of Lexington, Massachusetts. He married Patricia Ann Woodis and raised four children. Alan and Patricia were very active in the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as facilitators in the family to family education program which helps families to cope with mental illness. In their retirement, they enjoyed traveling. They took several trips cross country, the most memorable being a trip to Alaska with the Holiday Rambler club.

Alan was predeceased by his wife Patricia, his son Alan Jr., and his daughter Lorna Coen. He was also predeceased by his brother Reginald. Alan is survived by his sons, Bradford Wood and Randall (Mary) Wood and his sister Charlotte Kizer. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Sean Coen and Shayla (Thomas) Works (Thomas, Hannah, Calvin, and Aria); Julie Wood and Heather (Jeremiah) Robinson; and Megan, Brendan, and Katherine Wood.

Private graveside services will be held at Westview Cemetery, Lexington Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan's memory to NAMI at namimass.org .
