Barbara A. Walker, 87, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, June 12, 2022, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Freeman Jodrey. Walker. Born in Everett, MA and raised in Roxbury; she was the daughter of the late William P. and Jessica Whitmore (Reede) Hurd.
Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls. She held several jobs throughout her life. She was employed in customer service for Filenes in Boston. She was employed as a teller at the Malden Savings Bank and later as a customer service representative at the Stoneham Savings Bank for nine years before retiring
She enjoyed working on her Cryptoquote puzzles and watching old movies, especially musicals.
Barbara was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Stoneham. Summers spent with her mother's family on Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia held many happy memories for her and her family.
She was the mother of Lynne Brown and her husband Frank of Nashua, NH and the late Gina Maffei. She is survived by three grandchildren, Joseph Jodrey and wife Katie of Ashland, Michael Brown and wife Loren of Nashua, NH and Jessica Brown and five great grandchildren, Jack and Eleanor Jodrey, Camden and Mila Brown and Hailey Brown.
Friends and Family are most welcome to Visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 9th at the First Baptist Church in Stoneham.
