Carolann Hance-Fennick

d. January 29, 2019

Celebrating the life of Carolann Hance-Fennick, a devoted mother, wife, and friend, who passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019 with her family by her side following a brief illness.

Carolann was born in Mount Kisco, New York and moved shortly thereafter, to Brooklyn New York where she was raised and reportedly acquired her “edge”.  As a teenager, she re-located to the New England area with her family who settled down in Brockton and attended Cardinal Spellman High School.  After completing college at Aquinas Junior College in Milton, Carolann obtained employment in the real estate appraisal and development industry, working for two major Boston-area firms as a dedicated administrative assistant (nickname, “CAZ”).

Her husband Tom Fennick entered her life and the two eventually married in 1989. After giving birth to twins in 1997 (under no anesthesia, she would always boast!) she became a wonderful dedicated mother who raised her children Jacob and Sarah in a caring and thoughtful way, supporting a structured, yet independent growth, intervening as necessary to guide along a positive life course. Carolann supported her husband with unconditional love and sacrifice during his professional development, and later during a mid-life bout with leukemia from which he recovered.

Carolann loved to cook and discover new and unique restaurants.  A committed fan of “The Boss”, and everything Tuscany, she loved to read, travel, and explore new places, and was noted for planning spontaneous and creative, educational vacations, especially when her children were growing up.  Carolann loved to engage people wherever she went, and her generosity and thoughtfulness was appreciated by many.

Carolann is survived by her husband Tom, son Jacob and daughter Sarah, sister Susan Robinson, brother John Hance, nephew Derek Robinson, his wife Jessica and daughter Matilda, sister and brother in-laws Miguel and Jana, Deborah and Chris, niece Juliane, and Bobbie and partner Izaak, several close friends and her beloved Corey the cat (a.k.a. “Catus” or simply “Cat”) and dog Rosalita (a.k.a. “L.D”).

“In one of the stars, I shall be living;

In one of them I shall be laughing;

I shall be laughing, and so it shall be;

As if all the stars were laughing.

When you look at the sky at night;

And there is sweetness;

In the laughter of all the stars;

And in the memories of those you love.”

( The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery )
