Darin Leahy passed away at home on September 19, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 59.
Darin was born in Melrose on June 11, 1962 and resided in Stoneham all his life, except for when he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Molander) Leahy
He is survived by his beloved wife Jacqueline (Collins), his three devoted daughters, Kathleen, Teresa and Margaret Leahy and loving granddaughter Aoife Joan.
Darin is also survived by his siblings Michael Leahy and his wife, M.B. Maughn of Waquoit, Kevin Leahy of York, ME, the late Stephen Leahy and Linda of Marshfield, Barry Leahy and Martha of Newbury, Brian Leahy and Daysi of Georgetown, Mary and Bill Ward of Springfield, VT, and Terry Leahy and Robyn of West Newbury. He leaves many nieces and nephews.
Darin was very active in the community, being a past Stoneham Selectman, Past Commander of VFW 2394, a member of Legion Post 115 and the former Stoneham Elks. He would also volunteer for many veteran’s events and Stoneham TV. He enjoyed assisting Stoneham TV with their annual auction or video-taping events for the town. He was retired from Hanscom Air Force Base after 35 years of dedicated service, and where he made some wonderful friends and co-workers during that time.
Darin had many hobbies, but his favorite was fishing. He also enjoyed hiking, camping, gardening, travelling and creating short videos entitled “Out and About”, which could be seen on Stoneham TV.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, visitation: 3:00-6:00 P.M. followed by a prayer service at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, Stoneham MA. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
