Doris M. Bjorklund (Schwanz) of Lexington, 92, died June 2 nd 2018, surrounded by family, after a brief illness. Previously of Pine Bend, South St. Paul, and Minneapolis, MN. Loving wife of the late Truman Bjorklund. Daughter of William and Minna Schwanz, sister to Wilfred and Corine (Cook). U of MN, B.A. Architecture 1946. In MN, planner for Mpls Planning Commission 1946, designer at Ellerbe and Co 1947 to 1950. In MA, architectural designer for McLean Hospital 1973 to 1990. Owner of Teckna Studio. Beloved mother of Jan (Lexington, MA), Lynn (Westminster, MA), Barbara (Newark, DE), Abbe and son-in-law Brian Flaherty (Hanover, NH), and the late Liisa. Loving grandmother to Gabriel, Lukas, Caleb and Frederic Bercy, and Casey and Darcy Flaherty. Her family was her greatest joy, and she extended her love, warmth, and hospitality to many others. She was a role model and inspiration to many, advocating for peace, equal rights, improving access and the natural and built environment.
A Memorial Service for Doris will be held on September 22 nd at First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist, 7 Harrington Rd., Lexington, MA
