Doris J. Marquis, age 74, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of the late Douglas E. Marquis. Born in Tewksbury, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Gladys (Keyes) Record.
As a young child, Doris lived in Tewksbury, prior to her family relocating to Woburn. She was in the class of 1961 at Woburn High School.
Doris, a resident of Stoneham for the past fifty-five years, enjoyed much that her town had to offer. She, along with Doug, enjoyed attending Town Day each year, she was a regular at TOPS and often attended the Stoneham Theatre. She loved to shop. Along with her sister Jo and sister-in-law Julie, she would often go to the North Shore Mall, take a break for a visit to Starbucks and buy some Scratch tickets. Doris was always on the go. She and Doug loved to travel; they had vacationed in Ireland, Alaska, Canada and cruised the Caribbean. Her family remembers her as a proud, compassionate, loving mother.
She is survived by her three children, Kathleen D. Marquis and her fiancee Daniel Hunt of Stoneham, Kimberly Boucher and her fiancée Randy McCarty of Woburn and Douglas Marquis Jr. and his wife Roberta of Stoneham. She was the sister of Margie Stanfill, Josephine Conlin, Ronald Thibedeau, Kathy Marvel, Gladys Sawler, Jean Sawler and the late Fredrick Record. She leaves four adored grandchildren, Nicole, Marc, Paula and Teila; two great grandchildren Jayden and Brooklyn; her brother and sister in law Eugene and Maureen Marquis and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, Friday at 9 A.M, followed by a funeral service at 10 A.M. in the First Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Stoneham. Visiting hours are at the funeral home, Thursday, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
