Geraldine A. (Porter) Hayes 93 of Stoneham, October 23, 2018. Devoted wife of 60 years to the late Thomas C. Hayes, Jr. Cherished mother of Thomas C. Hayes III and his wife Ellie of Salem and Gail Hayes Priest and her husband James of Escondido, CA. Sister of Henry Porter, Harold Porter and the late Shirley Ray and Helen Porter. Also survived by her grandchildren, Danny, Lisa, Brittany, Brooke, Brianne, Ryan and Nathan; 9 great grandchildren and her cousin Marie Muise.
Geri graduated from Everett High in 1944. She went to work for Dunn and Bradstreet in downtown Boston, where she achieved over 60 words a minute with her typing skills.
She married Thomas Hayes in 1951 at St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham. In 1958, they built their home on Franklin St., in Stoneham and resided there for 54 years.
Geri retired in 1991 from the Stoneham School Department. She and Tom spent their twilight years traveling the world, visiting every continent with the exception of Antarctica. After Tom's passing in 2012, Geri moved to Escondido, CA to spend her remaining years with her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jim Priest.

from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. followed by a funeral mass on Tuesday, October 30

at 10 A.M. in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Stoneham Business and Community Educational Foundation (www.SBCEF.org).
