Henry F. Lombard

April 20, 1943 — October 31, 2018

Henry F. Lombard, “Ricky”, age 75, of Somerville, formerly of Stoneham, passed away at home on October 31, 2018, after battling cancer for five years.  Born in Cambridge, MA; he was born to Henry and Dorothy (Dupell) Lombard, but the son to the late John and June Hodson.

Ricky was raised in Stoneham, attended Stoneham Public Schools and graduated from Stoneham High School in the Class of 1961.  During the Vietnam Era, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed most of his military career at the Aguadilla Ramey Base in Puerto Rico.  He later worked in several different avenues; he assisted in the installation of elevators with Beckworth Elevator; he was a mail carrier for the US Post Office and most recently a maintenance supervisor at a condominium.  He was a life member of the American Legion in Stoneham where they knew him as "Iggy" and for years, he played on their softball team. He maintained a vegetable garden and his specialty was tomatoes and cucumbers. He enjoyed relaxing in his recliner. Ricky is described as blunt, bold, funny with a dry sense of humor, smart, very private, mistaken for a tough guy, but really a softy, and to his children, he was the "Rock of Gibraltar".
Ricky felt blessed and grateful for his large extended family.  He was a great father and he loved to play with his grandchildren.  He was the cherished father of Jennifer Lombard and Timothy Lombard of Revere; the grandfather of Katriana, Michael, Tim P., Christian, Timmy, Tamara, Jeffery and Miya and the father/grandfather figure 30+ years to Glen, Lisa, Keith, Shawn, Matt and Derek.  He was also survived by his former wife Mini Nieves, sister Ruby Fraser, niece Susan McLaughlin and his devoted companion of thirty years Jane E. Memory.

At the request of Ricky, services are private.  Those desiring may make a memorial donation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
