Jonathan Richard Morgan--beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friend – died on Sunday, March 17 th in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Jonathan was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 2 nd , 1989 and grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. He attended Andover public schools and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied food and nutrition science. Fascinated by the science of healthy living and possessing a generous and giving spirit, he aspired to become a registered dietician, helping others to live healthier, fuller lives. For the past several years Jonathan was living in Lawrence and working as an associate at Petco, where he could share his love for all creatures large and small. He also enjoyed cooking for others, exercising, playing guitar, walking small dogs, and spending time with family.
Jonathan was a deeply sensitive and empathetic person, a gentle and kind soul who suffered from mental illness for many years. After a long struggle with depression, Jonathan died by suicide. He is survived by his mother Rebecca and stepdad Steve of Andover, Massachusetts his father Jim and stepmom Laura of Waltham, Massachusetts, two siblings Sarah and James, many Kelley family cousins, aunts and uncles. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Neal and Marlene.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Winchester Unitarian Society in Winchester Massachusetts at 12 noon on March 22 nd 2019. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Jonathan’s memory with donations to the MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen MA, or the Massachusetts affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI.
