Joseph J. Francis

Joseph J. Francis of Stoneham passed away on December 9, 2018, at the age of 74.  Joe was born in Cambridge, MA on May 14, 1944, and grew up in Somerville, where he later taught in Somerville Public Schools for many years.  He also worked at Stop & Shop and was a loan officer with the Somerville School Employees Federal Credit Union.  Joe was an avid bargain hunter and talented gardener.  He loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jane (Pothier) Francis; his siblings, Betty Nettles of Georgia, Robert Francis of Plymouth and John Francis of Somerville; his children, Erin and Michael Kennedy of Stoneham, Katie and Sergio Serpa of Rockport and Elizabeth and Chuck MacSteven of Woburn and his four grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his sister Marie St. Pierre of Stoughton.  Joe will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2108 at 10:00 A.M. at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield, followed by  a private burial.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
