Joseph Leo Richard, "Leo" passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2021, at the age of 92.
Born in Norwich CT, Leo resided in Pictou, N.S. Canada with his family until 1957 and moved to the States, where he settled in Somerville, MA. and resided there for 40 years. Leo and Marie resided in Stoneham for 25 years.
Leo was preceded in death by his loving, devoted wife of 75 years, Marie (Ouellette) Richard, who passed away in 2018, his father Nastase and mother Minnie , six brothers and a sister. He is survived by his children,
Louise Richard and husband "Dick", Mary Landry (late husband "Freddy"), Jeanne Zaccagnini and husband James, Sandra Lourenco (late husband Carlos), Jerry Richard and wife Joan. He was the loving grandfather of six, great grandfather of six and uncle to many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
Leo was employed at Boston Frozen Food in South Boston for 43 years as a warehouse manager, and employed part-time at Primax in Wakefield, MA for 11 years as a courier, retiring in 2012. Leo enjoyed spending time with Marie and the family traveling to Canada visiting relatives and friends. He truly loved life and was an avid fan of his favorite teams the Boston Bruins and the Red Sox. He enjoyed his time at the Stoneham Senior Center and also playing cribbage with his son Jerry and grandson Kevin. He had a long life devoted to his family, relatives, friends and his church.
Visiting hours will be held at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home 4 Common St., Stoneham, MA. Wednesday, June 9th, 4pm - 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham, Thursday June 10th at 10am. Private interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham. Wearing of masks is optional, not required.
