Joseph Alfred Sava, age 87, of Magnolia passed away December 3, 2021, following a brief illness. Born and raised in Wakefield, MA; he was the son of the late Alfred and Lucrezia Sava.
Following graduation from high school, Joe joined the Marine Corps and served overseas in the Korean War.
For the past forty years, Joe has been a resident of Magnolia. For over fifty years, he was a longline and tuna fisherman. He was the previous owner and skipper of the F/V Hunter out of Gloucester. Joe also worked in construction and home repair. He enjoyed his leisure time with family and friends, deer hunting in the Maine woods and fishing along the New England Coast. Last summer he caught a prize blue fin tuna of which he was extremely proud.
Joe is survived by his sister, Frances Carnazzo. He was the uncle of Frank, Joe and the late Jim McLennan and Mark, Rob, Eric and Chris Carnazzo. He leaves many grandnieces, grandnephews and a group of good friends.
A Memorial Gathering and Service will be held at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham, Friday, December 10th beginning at 10:00 AM with service at 11:30 Burial in Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell St., Wakefield, with Military Honors.
