Katherine Selander

Katherine "Kay" Selander, of Stoneham, MA, passed away on May 3, 2023. She met her husband of 63 years, Herb Selander, at a ski resort in New Hampshire and went on to have three beautiful children, Diane, Karen, and Nancy. Kay’s family expanded to include her sons-in-law, Steve and Greg. Family was the most important aspect of Kay’s life and she cared greatly for her five grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Isabella, Dylan, and Ryan. They meant so much to her and likewise, Grandma was the best! She was an incredibly loving wife, mom, and grandma.

How did her life begin? Kay’s beginnings began in Medford, MA, as daughter of the late George and Doris Pachan. She cherished her siblings and their spouses, Peter and his wife Margaret, Barbara and her husband Jack (both deceased), and Mary and her late husband Dave. She loved her time spent traveling with her dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roy and Eleanor (Ellie) traveling to Harwichport and many other destinations. There were fond memories with her nieces and nephews.

What did she love to do? Kay enjoyed nature, traveling, music and spending time with her family and friends. Before retiring, Kay worked as an Administrative Assistant at Metropolitan Life and other local companies. She was an avid reader, Red Sox fan, and spent many a day with crosswords and puzzles. Kay loved playing games, making crafts, and being involved in her church community at the First Congregational Church in Stoneham.

Family and friends are invited to gather with the family on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common Street Stoneham MA. A service in celebration of Kay's life will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10am at the First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Stoneham MA. Interment at Lindenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of condolences may be made as a donation to the First Congregational Church in Stoneham MA.
