Lorraine Curran, age 71, of Stoneham, formerly of Salem and San Antonio, TX,
passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, after a long illness. She was the
youngest child of the late Charles Roy and Rita P. Curran, formerly of Chelsea, MA,
Salem, MA, and San Antonio, TX. She was lovingly referred to as the “Baby of the
Family” and was proud of that status and used the phrase, “Got To Love Me; I’m
the baby,” whenever she thought it would get a laugh. She had a great sense of
humor and a big heart and was not shy about sharing either of them.
Lorraine graduated from Salem High School in 1969 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force
one year later. She was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX,
where she remained after her service years. She began her college career while
in the Air Force and completed her studies once she was discharged. She also
worked in local hospitals in the San Antonio area. In addition, Lorraine was a
locksmith and loved the challenge of that craft. She was also very good at it.
She was joined by her parents in San Antonio where they lived for many years.
Lorraine was the loving caretaker to them both until their deaths in 1988 and
1993.
Lorraine was the companion of Elizabeth Cranaige, her best friend for 32 years
while living in Stoneham. She is survived by two sisters, Carole Rimmer of
Methuen and Denise Bradstreet and her husband Edward of Salem. She was
predeceased by her five brothers, Charles Curran of Lynn, Ronald Curran of Salem
and Florida, James Curran of Salem, David Curran of Milton and Ernest Curran of Boston.
She leaves many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews; she loved them all.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held Saturday, November 6th at
10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham.
Donations in Lorraine’s memory can be made to the COPD Foundation.org
