Maureen J. Cochran PhD, age 78, of Woburn, formerly a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away March 30, 2020, following a brief illness. She was the wife of F. Donald Cochran with whom she had shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Newburg, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Johanna (Plasch) Callahan.
Maureen was a graduate of Columbia University, earned her Masters in Cardiac Intensive Care Nurding at Boston College and her PhD in Law & Economics at Northeastern. As a registered nurse and educator, she worked as an intensive care nurse and manager at many of the Boston teaching hospitasl and retired in 2012, as a Professor at Suffolk University teaching Public Policy and Management.
Having been a resident of Stoneham for 46 years, Maureen was very active in the Stoneham League of Women Voters. She was past president of Critical Care Nursing of Massachusetts.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Rita Callahan of Weymouth.
