Nicole Marie Abate, age 49, of Saugus, died suddenly Thursday, April 7, 2022, despite being plagued with nearly a lifetime of illnesses. Born in Winchester, MA; she was the daughter of Patricia (Attenazio) Devaney of Saugus and Anthony Abate of North Chelmsford.
Nicky attended Stoneham High School with the Class of 1992. Nicky was funloving and outgoing, and was fortunate to have many friends. She loved attending concerts with a group of her old buddies, camping at Old Orchard, ME with her family and going to the Beach. Quiet times were spent fishing at Swain's and Dyke's Ponds, designing floral arrangements and playing with her cherished cats, Kitty, Bo and Tweety.
Nicky was a kidney and pancreas organ recipient. In appreciation of these lifesaving gifts, she worked at the Lahey Clinic Annual Kidney Fair each year and helped solicit funds for the New England Organ Bank.
In addition to her parents, Nicole is survived by her stepfather and kidney donor Edward Devaney of Saugus; her brother, Jason Marsters of Saugus and her close cousin Tony Graziano of Saugus. She also leaves her partner, Craig Mitchell of Everett, the Donnelly Family who were so kind and supportive and her best friend since gradeschool, Michelle Barrett of Melrose.
