Orr Shepherd

Orr Shepherd of Woburn and South Yarmouth, MA, formerly of Arlington, passed away on May 8, 2023.  Born on December 25,1933 in Brooklyn, NY.   He was the husband of the late Patricia Donovan Shepherd.

Orr served in the US Army as a Locomotive Engineer in Alaska from 1953-1955.  In 1959, Orr graduated from WPI with a BS in Electrical Engineering and from Northeastern University with a Masters in Electrical Engineering in 1969.  He spent his professional career at Visidyne Inc. in Burlington, MA, designing and testing systems for remote sensing of targets and atmospheric events.

Orr was a longtime member of the Cape Cod Salties Sportfishing Club.  He spent retirement traveling the world with his wife Patty, enjoying his grandchildren, fishing from his boat "Old Dog", making his home brew beer and listening to his collection of Ella, Sarah, Miles, Coltrane and their friends.  His infectious laugh and kind, gentle, unassuming demeanor made all who had the good fortune of spending time with him, happier for having done so.

Orr is survived by his daughters Deirdre Shepherd and partner David Blauer of Bear Creek, PA; Heather Martino and husband John of Evanston, IL; and son Orr Dylan Shepherd and wife Elizabeth of Newton, MA. Also survived by his six grandchildren Lauren, Steven and Molly Martino; Gloria, Mary Grace and Regina Shepherd.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
