Patricia J Desmond

Patricia Jane “Pat” Desmond, 65, of Beverly MA, formerly of Everett, passed away on December 26, 2021. Pat was the beloved daughter of Barbara Binkelman and the late Francis T. Desmond. She is survived by twelve loving siblings including John of Malden, Barbara Cammarata of Lynnfield, Mary of Lynnfield, Kevin of Eagan, MN, Paul of Cypress, CA, Joan Sullivan of Woburn, Susan of Derry, NH, Theresa Sajedian of Haverhill, Elizabeth of Everett, William of Winchester, Christine Maxwell of Portland, OR, and predeceased by brothers, Stephen and Robert. Pat also leaves her sisters in-law and brothers in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends. She graduated from Pope John High School in 1974 and earned an A.D. in Mechanical Drafting from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1985.

Pat exuded love, light, and laughter. She was always quick to help a friend in need, and even quicker with her wit. Her lifelong mantra was “Peace and Punk Out,” reflecting her adventurous spirit and generous heart. Pat loved traveling; she lived in California, Vermont, and Rhode Island, but Boston was her home. She worked for years in the shops and pushcarts of Faneuil Hall, brightening days with her colorful outfits and kind words. Her energy seemed boundless as rhymes, songs, poems, and jokes filled the air. But the role Pat loved most was that of “Professional Aunt.” She knew where to get the best pizza, how to make puppets and wooden toys, and when to just chill and enjoy life - and her bedtime stories were hilarious.

Though she lived simply, Pat believed it was important to give back. She volunteered her time at the Pine Street Inn and Fair Foods and showed great empathy for others who were struggling. In her later years, Pat faced her own challenges with mental health. Still, her effusive nature shines on in the memory of those whose lives she brightened.
