Peter J. Hession, age 74, of Tewksbury, formerly of Charlestown and Stoneham, died September 25, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was the cherished husband of the late Sandra (Marquis) Hession. Born in Boston, MA and raised in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Arthur and Doris (Poulan) Hession.
Pete was employed as a computer operations manager with Shawmut Bank of Boston for twenty-five years .
He and Sandy resided in Stoneham for fifteen years, prior to moving to Tewksbury in 1988. It was in Stoneham where they raised their sons, and as one said “Dad was a family man. Everything he did was for his family; he was kind, patient, caring and giving.”
As a couple, they loved to travel. They enjoyed many vacations on cruise ships to the Caribbean Islands and to Haiti, and flights out west to Las Vegas. They eventually purchased what they had hoped to be their retirement home in Sedona, AZ.
Pete was a member of the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly, where they moored their boat the “No Cents“. He turned out to be an unsuccessful fisherman, but he enjoyed picnicking and cruising along the North Shore. Pete made friends easily and he treasured many lasting friendships with those from work, from the places where he had lived and travelled and with those he shared with Sandy.
He was the devoted father of Paul Hogan and his wife Mary of West Friendship, MD and Keith Hession of Westminster, MD. and proud grandfather of Casey and Nicholas Hogan, Bryanna and Kayla Hession. He was the grateful uncle of Julie Herb and her husband Gary of Methuen and brother of the late Nancy Burke.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham on Saturday, October 6 th , starting at 11 A.M., followed by a funeral service at 1PM.
