Richard M. Basilesco, age 63, a longtime resident of Somerville, died August 11, 2023, at home unexpectedly following a short undiagnosed illness. Born in Chicopee, MA; he was the son of Joseph R. Basilesco of Somerville and the late Doris M. (Janelle) Basilesco.
As a child, Richard found home to be in different localities across the country, as the family would relocate to the base where his father, as a careerman in the Air Force, was stationed. Richard attended and graduated from Bedford High School in 1978 when the family lived at Hanscom Air Force Base for several years.
In 1984, Richard graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. As a Registered Pharmacist, he had been employed at several facilities prior to having worked at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center for the past thirteen years. Richard diligently worked on the frontlines of healthcare all through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Richard was well liked and had numerous friends from different chapters of his life. He loved to travel and was a competitive darts player; he enjoyed craft beer and cheering on the Patriots. He will be remembered as a loving son and brother and will be dearly missed by his many friends.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister Helen M. Basilesco of Somerville and his aunt Simonne Janelle, SCIM of Saco, Maine.
