Richmond A. Castano Jr., “Richie“, grew up in Brockton, MA, lived for a time on Cape Cod, traveled across the country in his famous Volkswagen bus, with and visiting many friends and family, and in recent years resided in West Bridgewater, MA. Richie is fondly remembered as the "piano man" and for his love of music, nature and adventurous travels. He was the owner and operator of Twin Leather Company, Inc. Founded by his father, Richmond A. Castano Sr. "Twinny" and his uncle Raymond V. Castano in 1949. Twin Leather was one of the last leather companies in Brockton. He served in the Vietnam War as an Army Specialist E4 as an intelligence analyst, earning the Vietnam Service, the Vietnam Campaign, the National Defense Service Medals and the Bronze Star. He was exposed to Agent Orange in that war and died of metastasized pancreatic cancer. After a brief, courageous and optimistic battle, he passed at the age of 73 peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday July 9, 2022. Richmond and family are thankful to the wonderful caregivers at Brigham and Women's/Dana Farber and under the hospice care of Hope.
Richmond was a Master Mason for 11 years and brother of the Baalis Sanford Lodge A.F. & A.M. Brockton, MA. He volunteered for many years at Brockton Veterans Services and was a member of the Holbrook Sportsmen's Club.
