Robert T. Goode, age 87, of Malden, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on August 5, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to the late Jean (Perullo) Goode.
Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas M. and Helen J. (Becker) Goode.
For over forty years, Mr. Goode was employed as a machinist in the Nuclear Medicine Division of DuPont Pharmaceuticals in Billerica. At times, he worked two additional jobs in maintenance and bartending to provide for his family.
Bob was self disciplined and liked routine. Although he could be stubborn and set in his ways, he truly loved and appreciated his family.
In his youth, Bob was an athlete and excelled in baseball. "Lefty" was a team captain in four sports and continued to play sports into his sixties. He liked to pretend he was stern but was really a softie with a smirky smile. Always a sportsman, in his retirement, he very much enjoyed playing bocce at the Italian American Club in Malden.
He was the devoted father of Diane Mazzola and her husband Cesidio “Sid” of Newton, Lynn Goode and her fiancé Mark Thompson of Revere, Lori Zagarella and her husband David of Malden and the late Richard Goode. He was the grandfather of Marco Mazzola of Burlington, Ariana Zagarella of Somerville, Nickolas Zagarella of Danvers and the late Dante Mazzola. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Mahoney of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews.
