Rose C. Bryce, a longtime resident of Stoneham, died March 31, 2022, at the age of 94. She was the wife of the late Thomas C. Bryce. Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia (Ricccio) Loconte.
Prior to her marriage, Rose was employed as a blueprint draftsman, first at Mason-Nelson Engineering and then at Westinghouse Electric. Rose and Tom were married in 1951, and nine years later moved to their home in Stoneham where they raised their family. For many years, Rose enjoyed working with children at the Noah's Ark DayCare in Stoneham; she was known as "Miss Rose".
Rose was a faithful member of 60 years at the First Baptist Church in Stoneham, where she served on the Board of Education and taught Sunday School. She was very active in the South School P.T.A. when her children attended grade school there. In her later years, Rose often enjoyed participating in activities at the Stoneham Senior Center. Many of her handcrafted items she donated to the Center's giftshop have been purchased.
She was the mother of Gail Driscoll and her late husband Tim of Tampa, FL, Jean LaRosee and her husband Steve of Carver and Scott Bryce of Medford.
A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 3rd at 3:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 457 Main St., Stoneham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Church an hour prior to the Service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the First Baptist Church of Stoneham or the Stoneham Senior Center.
