S.Maria Musto

d. November 22, 2022

S. Maria Musto, "Sanny", age 91, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away on November 22, 2022,  at Winchester Hospital after a short illness.  Sanny was born in Somerville to Frank and Angelina (Saraceno) Fama and was raised in Medford where she met her soul mate, Sebastian (“Sebby”) Musto, who predeceased her in 2020.

Sanny and Sebby enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 69 years.  Together they traveled the world, played tennis, tended their garden, and went to concerts.  Most mornings they enjoyed each other’s company with the newspaper in their laps and classical music on the radio.

A lifelong learner and lover of nature, Sanny earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UMass Boston at the age of 50, and she was an avid reader until the very end of her long life.

She leaves behind her two brothers, Eugene Fama and his wife Sally of Chicago and Los Angeles, and Frank Jr. of Indiana, and their children.  She was immensely proud of her baby brothers and maintained a connection with both throughout the years despite their physical distance.  She was also close with her in-laws, the late Gilda Cocco and her late husband Vincent, Patrick J Musto and late wife Yolanda, and John Musto and late wife Carol.

Sanny was the devoted and loving mother of five children: Michael Musto and his wife, Lee Lustberg, of Portland, OR, Marie Musto of Salem, Peter Musto of Stoneham, Joseph Musto of Melrose, and Carla Sciola and her husband Alberto of Stoneham.

Sanny doted on all her grandchildren, imparting hobbies and wisdom to each. In addition to her grandchildren, she also leaves behind five great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.

A Mass celebrating Sanny's life will be held Thursday, December 1st. at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sanny’s name can be made to Bread of Life, 214 Commercial St., Suite 209, Malden, MA 02148 . Arrangements under the direction of Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home of Stoneham.
