Thomas F. Bennett of Wakefield, formerly of Reading and Stoneham, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Sharon (Romanoff) Bennett. Born in Boston and raised in Somerville during his early childhood: he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Audrey (Haynes) Bennett.
Tom was a graduate of Huntington Prep. of Boston and Boston College in the class of 1969. Throughout his career, Tom worked in sales for his family business, the Bennett Company Inc., a plumbing and heating business formerly located in Somerville.
In his youth, Tom loved spending summers on the Cape and his best memories were of sailing. He once owned an old wooden sailboat “ Spectre ” that he sailed out of the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly, and the boat even required the local fire department to keep it from sinking. Tom decided marriage was safer than sailing and became an astute gardener growing the most beautiful flowers in harmony of timing, color and height. He was also a serious model train enthusiast and enjoyed constructing the terrain and buildings, as well.
In addition to his caring wife, Tom is survived by his daughter Lynne (Seeley) Bohan and her husband Edward of Swampscott and son Mark W. Bennett and his husband David Shofner of Los Angeles, CA. He leaves his two granddaughters, Katelyn and Faye. He was the brother of the late Linda Bennett.
