Virginia Emily Valentine

d. February 5, 2021

Covid19 has swiftly cut down our Nana, the super senior poster girl of vitality at 89. Up until 2 weeks ago she was still driving, and looking forward to taking trips with her “crew”, visiting the casino, volunteering at a local food bank, and coming over for our Sunday dinner ( never empty handed).

She had an outgoing personality and would love to tell you about her kids, grandkids, and her great grandchildren. Nana’s neighbors will miss her cooking , conversation, and her willingness to help where ever she could. Her neighbors would jump to help her out in return clearing snow from her car, lending a hand with some bundles, etc.

Born in Revere and living in East Boston raising 3 kids was suddenly interrupted when our Dad suffered an industrial accident and was unable to work. Our mom immediately picked up the ball and got a job at Boston City Hospital where she worked her way up to office manager. She worked there  for over 25 years and was honored at her retirement party by her colleagues. After her retirement from the city, she worked part time at the IRS for many years and was currently volunteering.

She was able to attend the weddings of all her grandchildren and owned the dance floor at every one of them.  She spent summer vacations with her great grandchildren and forged some everlasting memories with them clearly a win/win. We are so glad they had this opportunity.

She was the beloved daughter of Alfonso and Eleanor DiNuccio. She was sister of Frank and Rose  DiNuccio and sister in law of  Justine and Fred Cimmino. She was married to the late George Valentine for over 63  years.  She is survived by her three children, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Each of the children had a special relationship with Nana. We will never forget her feistiness, love of life, cooking and eating food, refusal to act old, and her ability to always let everyone in the room know she was there.
