A devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather

STONEHAM – William E. Silk, a longtime resident of Stoneham passed away on October 16, 2021, with his wife at his side. “Bill” was the beloved husband of 58 years to Winifred (Barczykowski) Silk. He was the cherished and loving father to Peter Silk and his wife, Nina, of Tewksbury, Mary Reese of Chelmsford, and Robert Silk and his wife, Sandy, of Melrose. Bill was the proud and loving grandfather to Allison Reese of Belmont. He was older brother to the late Paul Silk and his surviving wife, Jacoba von Gimborn, and to Richard Silk, and his wife Meg.

Bill was born in Keene, NH on May 23, 1942, the oldest son of the late John P. Silk and Charlotte Marie (Erikson) Silk. He grew up in Somerville and Lexington, MA, attended Belmont Hill School, and graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania where he met his wife. He later became proprietor of Minute-Man Car Wash in Medford, where he was known to many in the community. His greatest joy was found with his wife, Winnie, and with family. Bill generously supported religious organizations, children’s charities, and those in need.

Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 21 at 10am (masks required) at St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street in Somerville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill Silk’s memory to a charity of your choice. For online tribute, please visit www.andersonbryantfuneralhome.com .
